Dave Olseth Memorial Skatepark in Whitefish is Officially Open
The Dave Olseth Memorial Skatepark in Whitefish is officially open to Skateboarders and Inline Skaters. Due to the poor weather conditions, the landscaping has not been completed this fall. We, (the Skateboard Association and the City of Whitefish) have been working on solutions so the skatepark may open. Now that a temporary path and rules signs are in place, we feel that the skatepark can open safely. There are limited features surrounding the skatepark as far as trash receptacles, benches, etc. Please respect this skatepark and pack your trash out until these landscaping elements are in place in the spring.

The skatepark may close temporarily in the spring during completion of certain landscaping elements if the construction is deemed a safety hazard. For temporary closures dates, please check www.skatewhitefish.com or a local skate shop.

Big Mountain Resort to Open Early for Winter Season
WHITEFISH (Nov. 15, 2005) - Big Mountain Resort has announced that it will open ahead of schedule for the 2005-06 ski and snowboard season. The resort had originally planned to open on Nov. 24, but with good early season snowfall and a 30-inch settled base at the summit, resort management decided to begin limited operations on Nov. 19, five days earlier than originally planned.

Limited skiing and snowboarding will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Chair 7 (North Face, Big Creek Express) with at least 6 marked runs, although actual snow conditions at time of opening will dictate trail openings. There is a 12-inch settled base at the bottom of Chair 7. No beginner access is available at this point, and the resort will open additional trails and lifts as conditions permit.

Food and beverage facilities open include the Summit House, Bierstube, Hellroaring Saloon, Big Drift, and Aunt B's. Rental and retail operations open include Snowghost Outfitters, Big Mountain Rentals, General Store, The Treehouse, Cabin Creations, Montana Tom's, Crazy Bear and Mountain Photography, Stumptown Snowboards, Perkin Beans, Mountain Gems, and Remedies Day Spa.

The Outpost, Moguls, and Big Mountain Kids (day care) will not be open until Nov. 24. For the early opening, Big Mountain Snowsports Center will offer intermediate and advanced private lessons only, with advanced reservations. The Snowsports Center will offer additional programming, including group and private lessons for all ability levels, as terrain conditions permit.

Lift tickets for the early opening will be $25. The early season ticket price of $39 through Dec. 16 will go into effect as additional terrain opens. Regular adult tickets after Dec. 16 are $49. Many discounted winter products are still for sale until Dec. 3 including the Frequent Skier Card and 5-Day Winter Pass.

With the opening of s k i season, in-bound closures are in effect for all-mountain and will be enforced with a loss of lift privileges. Ski Patrol asks that the public respect these closures for their own safety. Early season conditions exist across the mountain and the public is encouraged to use caution.

For snow reports, live cameras, and other information please visit www.big-mountain.com. For tickets and other guest service inquiries please call 862-2900. The snow phone can be accessed by calling 862-SNOW (7669).
